Heading on holiday from Manchester Airport? If you’re parking at one of Manchester’s on site car parks it’s best to plan your route in advance to avoid getting lost or delayed and potentially being late to board your flight!
Located 9 miles south of Manchester City Centre, Manchester Airport has good links to the motorway. The airport is situated next to the M56, providing easy access to the M6, M60 and M62.
If you are using a sat nav to find your way to the airport, enter the postcode M90 1QX.
As Manchester Airport is one of the UK’s biggest airports outside of London, it’s important to make sure you know which of the airport’s 3 terminals you are flying from before you set off. Finding that you’ve gone to the wrong one certainly isn’t the best way to start your holiday!
As you approach the airport, you’ll find that the terminals are signposted, so simply follow the signs and you’ll be directed to the right terminal.
If you are travelling to Manchester Airport from a local area or from the city centre, you can alternatively follow the signs for the A34 or A5103.
If you were thinking of dropping the family off at the entrance to the terminal and then going to park, it’s worth knowing beforehand that Manchester Airport has drop off charges in place.
There is currently a fee of £3 for 5 minutes in the drop off area, increasing to £4 for 10 minutes. If you want to get as close to the airport as possible and avoid any stressful parking and drop off situations, we’d recommend booking meet and greet parking, so you can simply arrive at the airport, hand over your keys and get on with your journey.
